M&M Statue of Liberty

Here are some souvenirs from the M&M Store on Times Square. It's a favorite among tourists, especially those under the age of 10.

So what kind of souvenirs do you usually buy when you are traveling out of town?

Great shot, Ming! I didn't even know this place exists. I tend not to buy souvenirs—unless it's an Eiffel Tower (I collect them). I do press flowers, and collect odd bits of ephemera (like a few fibers from the rope that's used to tie up the vaporettos in Venice. (And I shouldn't admit it, but I've also been known to pilfer a nice colorful cloth napkin from time to time.

I don't like souvenirs, normally. I surely buy postcards and typical products, like special food or handcrafts.
But there are a couple of things with the town name written on them that I might buy: mugs and magnets for the fridge door!

Why didn't I see this store!! Damn it!
I collect shot glasses when I go away on holiday, so far building up quite a collection.

How on earth did you find this store. I missed it in Times Square. Great shot Ming.
I've been looking at the fancy, light-up 2009 glasses in every souvenir shop in Times Square.

I like to buy souvenir tea towels, especially those packed with info like ones with maps of the city or shields or flags of all the subordinate districts (counties, cantons, etc.) in a country. I also like dramatic ones (QEII covering length of towel, e.g.). I have a map of Florence, one with South African birds, the QEII, a Haggis recipe, the areas of Scotland, etc. Then I use them everyday to wipe dishes and clean up the kitchen and wash them until they are rags. Everyday I'm doing a chore with them I think of being somewhere I enjoyed.

We don't do much traveling, but when we do I like to buy a piece of jewelry as a memento.

Oh M'God! Mixed feelings here: "too much junk in this world" and "ahh, they are so cute".

This would most likely not go home with me however, I do confess to buying one of those Statue of Liberty lighters once a while back.

Almost makes me wish I was still collecting kitchy Statues of Liberty. I had a Bugs Bunny bank from the Warner Bros store and a Minnie Mouse from the Disney store. This would've fit right in.
