This gigantic sculpture of the Roman Arabic numeral '9' is located outside the Brasserie 8 1/2 restaurant on 57th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. I took this photo on the same day I took the one of the brasserie window, and I have been saving it for today's post.
So do you save anything unconventional, hoping it would be of some use at a later in the future?

That's not a Roman Numeral! Wouldn't that be IX?
Thanks for the correction, anon.
It was very much appreciated.
oh god 9 days, now I am stressing.
Super cool! That is the most inventive use for the numer nine building I have ever seen.
Very, very creative.
glad you saved this Ming, I love it.
I save lots of stuff. Unfortunately most of the time I forget about it though!
well this is just great Ming. Wish I had something stashed away I could use. I am digging deep these days. Glad you saved this one for us. It made me chuckle.

The 9 is the building's address. Nine West 57th Stree.
A family friend takes her kids (and now grandkids) there on their 9th birthdays to take a picture in front of the big red 9.
Yes!
This is indeed, a spectacular 9!!
And I loved looking at the crafts booths at Union Square below.
I was there is person yesterday when the weather was mild.
Number nine? Number nine? Number nine? ...
I keep a few rainy-day photos aside, on a flash stick, just in case.
I like it! I have a few things up my sleeve but I don't really plan that well :(
For me it's more a case of do I have anything conventional to post rather than the unconventional. I mean our national flag has 3 legs on it, we have green footprints on the sidewalks around town and giant hand signposts. This 9 would fit right in.
Okay Ming, here's the challenge.
Can you find a 5? Because in 5 days we're landing in NYC for the holidays.
I'm saving all your recs for what promises to be a grand time. Your photos and stories inspire.
Thanks.
Doris
Is the building 9 West 57th Street? Just wondering.
"Nine ladies dancing"?
(...and a Partridge in a Pear Tree?)
i can't believe it's coming up so close.
Hmm, now do I save anything unconventional??? No. NOT!! I am THE Queen of all hoarders, Ming! If it's useful, I don't have it! =D
