Postcard from Rome

I spent an entire morning at the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Palatine today. What an amazing site! Am heading to Florence tomorrow morning.

Am missing regular internet access. This is the first time in over a year that I am not online every couple of hours every day.

What about you?

The colosseum is really impressive...wow.
We're leaving tomorrow for Tuscany! Funny, we'll be really close to you when we'll pass near Florence driving to Argentario which is halfway between Florence and Rome, on the sea. I hope you are enjoying your vacation!

The Colosseum and the other Roman ruins is indeed spectacular, but you are headed to an even better part of Italy tomorrow. If at all possible, stop in Siena on your way to Florence, or take a side trip to Siena from Florence. It is like Florence used to be 400 years ago. Its cathedral is the most beautiful I have seen in six trip to Italy, in my opinion.

And don't worry about checking the website while you are gone. Everyone will understand. And if you arre addicted to your blog, next trip get a Blackberry with an international calling plan, so you can check your blog from anywhere.

this is a great shot! I wish I were there!
It's nice to take a break from the internet I think, even if it's forced.

Hi Ming,
Looks like you paid the admission fee for entrance :)

Did you get to the gelateria I suggested?

I would second the recommendation to visit Sienna if at all possible and if you're lucky the inlaid floor of the cathedral will be uncovered. While you're there go to the church museum and make the trek to the roof for a glorious view of the piazza and rooftops below.

Buon fortuna!

I only keep seeing photos of the exterior so thank you for this. It's awesome! I didn't realize that some of the awning? roof? of the stands still survive.

I've gone without internet access for only a couple of days. I think that's the longest my husband and I can handle it, then we both start getting withdrawal symptoms :D

Another great shot, Ming!
Have a terrific time in Florence—I go pretty much every year, so I'm e-mailing you the names of some super restaurants there.
When I was in Italy last year, I didn't go online for two weeks! Can you say . . . withdrawal??

Lovely capture. Sometimes no internet means you get to spend your time concentrating on the beauty before you.

Maybe a little "detox" from the wonders of the www can do you some good;) Even though I'm the first one to take enormous pleasure in popping onto your site. Relax and enjoy my friend - you've deserved it!

Victoria Beckham was there on the 10th Jan too. LOL, did you see her and her kids?

Cool photo by the way, so jealous that you can see this historic place, it looks breath-taking in photo.

Sounds silly but did you encounter and kind of ghosts while at the Colosseum?

very nice shot.. i often see my friends take an overview of the colosseum. It's nice to zoom in and take just a section of it. Gives it a different feel. what are those dark things on the wall? are they moss?
