Old, New & In-Between

This is the view of the Chrysler Building from downtown East Village. I was standing on 13th Street and the Chrysler Building is on 42nd Street. In the foreground, is an old pre-war apartment building on the left and a new luxury condo on the right.

So do you prefer old or new?

Just on the right of the Chrysler Building we could see the twisted metal spire of the 60's Church of St Mary in Stuyvesant Square.

This is an amazing contrast.
I like the old, but don't disdain the new, if it's well made.

I prefer old. Newer isn't always better. Have a great day everyone!

I prefer old but new is good if the design is thoughtful. Often it isn't!

That's hard to say. A little of both!

Well done, Ming! I'll take old, thanks—and you know I love the Chrysler Bldg. (although I don't think I'd mind living in that condo at the top of the modern bldg. on the right—nice, skylight, nice terrace)!

Gotta say I like the mix. NYC as melting pot, as it were. -:)

I love, love, love the Chrysler building but I think in your picture, the real star is on the left. The contrast, the colors and the light all point to it. Lovely!
