This photo was taken as the plane I was on was preparing to land at Laguardia Airport in Queens, New York. The photo shows townhouses in Woodside (I think) on the foreground and Long Island in the background. I have been to Woodside many times and I remember seeing airplanes landing at the nearby airport every 15 minutes.
So how far are you from your airport?

Great shot.
About 45 minutes to Burbank or one hour to LAX - depends on traffic -as in NYC.
Have a great week-end. More visits to the Jersey shore?

Very neatly laid out. The view from planes landing in Manila is downright chaotic!
About 20 minute drive to our local one, which is a small airport.
Have a good weekend
Only every 15 minutes?
The Paris airports are so far (too far?) from the city centre, so no problem (for me)!
amazing shot!
WOW just look at all those houses... all those lives being lived beneath those roofs!
I'm 10 mins by car from tiny airport that flies tiny planes, 20 mins from medium airport that flies medium size planes, and 50 mins from international airport with three huge terminals.
Amazing view!!!
Our airport is very very close, about twenty min drive! Perhaps half an hour.
What a sight!
I live at ten minutes by car from the airport, it helps a lot if you forget something in the last minute!!
But I'm not disturebd by tha traffic plane.
Have a nice weekend!
the buildings are all so neat and organised, very cute in a funny way!
I love pictures with a birds eye view.
& I live about 2 miles from an airport. It can get noisy sometimes. Though it has been less noisy since the economy has taken a dive.
Great view, Ming!
7 min.
around 38 mins.
That is so interesting - I love the houses in Queens. I live in Astoria right by the subway line and so La Guardia is just minutes away :o)
About 12 miles from Boeing Field, which is where private planes and FedEx/UPS planes land; about 30 miles from Sea-Tac (SEA), which is where you catch a plane to LGA or JFK...
About 3 miles from the little Astoria/Warrenton airport, NOW WITH SERVICE TO PORTLAND (again)! Two hours from the International in Portland.
But more importantly, I hadn't visited your blog in a few days and just learned from Babooshka's site that you were ending its fabulous run. Yours was the second City Daily that captivated me after Eric's Paris, which is how I found the City Daily blogs. Your New York blog is a monument to an interesting personal vision shared with others. And, not least, it was so memorable to meet with you in NY. You were so kind to invite us, and we gained so much in meeting you. We all have to change and let some things go. I hope it is all for the good. You deserve all of the good you can have! You were an inspiration to me to start Astoria, Oregon, Daily Photo. But most important to end with, you've given so many of us a lot of pleasure along your path.
