The Lake at Central Park

This photo was taken at The Lake in Central Park two weekends ago when I participated in the walkathon to raise funds for God's Love We Deliver. The low sunlight shining in my direction created these beautiful silhouettes against the background of the lake.

So have you ever participated in a race or a walk?

Race To Deliver 2008

Justify FullI spent Sunday morning walking at Race to Deliver, a walkathon/jogathon/race/fundraiser to benefit God's Love, We Deliver, a non-profit organization that provides free daily meals to people who are home bound due to diseases like HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

This was my fourth year participating in the race and I have to admit, it was my fastest time too. I finished the 4-mile (6.4 kilometers) race in about 1 hour 15 minutes.

Autumn Foliage

Fall (Autumn) weather is finally here again and the foliage has turned a spectrum of yellows to reds. This photo was taken from the 4th floor of one of our office buildings in Queens this afternoon. You can see the faraway Manhattan skylines in middle of the photo.

So what are your plans for the weekend? I will be doing the walkathon for Race To Deliver at Central Park to benefit God's Love, We Deliver, a non-profit organization that provides free nutritious hot foods for people who are home bound due AIDS, cancer and other debilitating diseases.

God's Love We Deliver

This is the God's Love, We Deliver float at the Gay Pride Parade from yesterday (Sunday). The parade route started on 50th Street and marched down 5th Avenue to 9th Street before proceeding to the Village where all night parties continued until the wee hours of the night. I caught only about 45 minutes of the parade near Washington Square where this photo was taken before I left to meet my friend for a late brunch.

God's Love, We Deliver, where I volunteered as a kitchen helper for 5 years, provides free nutritious meals to men, women and children in New York City and Newark, NJ who have AIDS, cancer or any other serious illnesses. Volunteers usually work one three-hour shift per week where we chop, dice, peel and mince hundreds of pounds of potatoes, onions, carrots, celeries and other vegetables, which will then be cooked and packed for delivery the next day.

So what do you think of the girls on the float? Do you think they are "real girls"?
