Graffiti Art @ Korean Restaurant

Graffiti art may sound oxymoron but somtimes it does add character to an otherwise uninspiring place. Take this 24-hour Korean restaurant on 32nd Street between Broadway and 5th Avenue, otherwise known as Koreatown, for example; dinner guests are invited to draw or scribble on the walls. It gives diners an interesting topic to talk about and may even attract people to the restaurant. This place definitely stands out on a street filled with other restaurants serving similar Korean food. For more photos and what I had for dinner, click here.

What would you write if you could scribble on the wall??

N.B.: Han of Seoul Daily Photo posted a somewhat similar photo last week. Check it out!

Very interesting. I love to read what others write. While visiting Chicago, we stopped to have some famous Chicago style pizza, the waitress gave us a super sized sharpie marker and said "write all over the wall, table, booth, or where ever makes you happy". I thought for awhile and then wrote, I Love MN and signed my name. Now if I were to write on a colorful wall... "LIFE IS GOOD"!
Great photos!

That's cool... Maybe I'd spent a long time reading all the writings on the wall next to my table.. I was in some famous place in La Havanna called "La bodeguita del medio" and it happened the same.. I only wrote my name there.. It's not pretty original but I'm there now :)

I think that is a good idea. Maybe I will just write my name and the time I was there :)

If invited to write I'm not sure I'd find anything interesting if, however, I was forbidden to write, different story I wouldn't be able to stop.

I think it adds character to a bar or club. Kinda down down grades a restaurant. I like to eat in a clean enviroment. :) Besides I have a poor attention span. I wouldn't be able to eat without reading.

lavender lady - let us know when you've decided what to write. :-)

don & pcfranchina - you know dinner is less than $10 if there are writings on the wall. :-)

delightful-d - "LIFE IS GOOD" is a great phrase to write on the wall.

dsole & tanty - everyone will know you were there.

angela - when I was a kid, I would crawl under the dining room table and write all sorts of stuff under it. My parents never knew about it. Well, maybe they will now.

mandi - traffic jam is bad any time of the day

Very interesting. Seems to be complete chaos inside. I knew places where you can write on the table sets, but I've neve seen one where the customers can write on the walls. The fact that it s different, makes it very much interesting (at least to me;)

superbe ce mur, cela me rappelle un mur dans un vieux bar de Paris "le crocodile" où tout le monde laisse son nom sur un mur.

superb this wall, that points out to a wall in an old bar of Paris “the Crocodile”, where everyone leaves its name on a wall.

And when the wall gets to be too full of words, one can paint it and present the new canvas to eaters to start writing all over again.

those individual scribblings made it look like one big piece of art. I thot the lines fit the restaurant very well :D

Cool pic! I love the way the geometric lines meet the pic edge. There's a sense that the viewer can step right into the setting itself. Good sense of dimension. The overhead lighting also conveys a nice sense of linearity and visual appeal.

Cool!
