Theme Photo: Public Mail Box

Today is April 1st and it's another photo theme day. The theme this month is A Public Mail Box and 66 Daily Photo Bloggers are participating in the theme.

This photo was taken from my apartment window. You can see the blue (drop off) and green (holding) mail boxes on the street corner.

Interesting perspective on a US Mailbox. After all the R2D2s running around - you're probably safer.

And it doesn't look so cold any more!

Nice perspective...What is the green holding box for?

I have never seen one of the green holding box before. Now today I have seen it in multiple countries.

How many of us actually post letters these days? Most of my correspondance, bill paying, communications of any kind, is done via the internet.

MING! This shot makes me feel like I'm falling from the top of a building. :)

isabella & denton - The green box is where the postman stores his mail between deliveries. The mailman here walks from one buildint to the next; they don't drive. So they can only physically carry so much mail. Sometimes, he/she would store the extra mail in the green boxes and deliver what he can carry. And then come back to replenish his mail bag from the green box.

You need a conduit from your building to thebox, just ike Ki showed us in Seattle!!

Now, did you look out of your window and shoot?

jean - I look out the window of my living room and point the camera at the 5 o'clock direction. And voila, c'est la posta. :-)

Just one question: is anyone writing letters?
Gil

PS: I added a link to your blog, hope you don't mind...

Well done, Ming. It gives an ordinary object (well to those of us who seem them every day, at least) an extraordinary look!

At least you don't have far to go to turn in your Netflix movies :)
