Pershing Square Restaurant

Here is the Pershing Square Restaurant that is under the bridge in yesterday's photo and located across 42nd Street from Grand Central Station. The front of the restaurant (in this photo) may look like a greasy diner from the outside but there is a beautiful dining space inside. But if you prefer to hang out and get something to drink, it has great outdoor seatings at the corner too.

I used to work on Park Avenue and this was a favorite place to meet up with friends after work. A lot of New York commuters who work in city and live in the suburbs of Long Island or upstate New York come here to relax before taking the trian home at the Grand Central Station. Here is another photo of the restaurant under the bridge.

Do you have a place to meet for drinks with coworkers before heading home?

OH WOW......I didn't expect that! So colourful and bright. Love it!

I don't have a "usual" meeting place as such, but catching up with friends is normally at bars or cafes central to us all. Everything is driving distance in Perth...too sprawling to walk and our public transport system is shocking, especially at the weekends.

I think that our problem is we are not able to adapt a great space under the brides. In the very centre of Wroclaw we have some pubs, or shops but mainly this space is completely not in use. Unfortunately.

We usually don't meet up with colleagues after work.

It's only with friends that we meet up.

I wonder if you are going to show the food they serve there! :-)

Is it noisy that vehicles pass over the restaurant?

Wow. That really is under the bridge. I wonder how they got a building permit to build there. It looks like it would be a big problem should the bridge need major repairs or has to be replaced.

I like your photos of this too.

Checked the other photo, where you can see it under the bridge: really nice!

A drink after the job is nice! Sometimes I had more to do and had to go back after the drink, leaving the friends there for a second one! Now, I'm retired, have all the time for a drink or whatever, but miss the colleagues. (I still see a few of them, but occasionally.)

Oh under the bridge. That's unusual and funny but I like it.

Unfortunately we usually don't meet up with colleagues after work. I know this is very popular in UK but not in Italy unfortunately (as said).

Oh for the love of food! said...

Ming, you are right, looking at the exterior of the restaurant, I wouldn't think there's a beautiful dining area inside. Is it dusty outside because it's under a bridge? Would a facelift be difficult because of where the restaurant is situated?

I love your shot here. I've always thought that was such a colorful restuaurant but I've never been inside. I'll have to give it a try! (I don't really have a regular place for drinks after work, though sometimes we do have margaritas at Rosa Mexicano here on the uws.)

An increasing fraction of coworkers have families to take care of so there tends to be limited interest in having a drink before going home but the concept is certainly nice... :)

Oh, Ming...that's so "Sex and the city" of you ;-)

Well, I have to give it to them...that's using every available space. As for drinks after work...definately "The Buzz", and make mine a non fat latte with a shot of hazelnut.

That place looks so cool! I wanna go there when I'm in the city in a month or so.

We have a very popular Irish Pub here in Monroe, La. called ENOCH's. Every Tuesday night is 2 for 1 burger night! Oh..they're so good!

Laterz,
B.

i've come to really like ktown now. the bars and restaurants are completely gentrified so when going i see a great mixture of people. i would recommend Baden Baden on 32nd street, their fried chicken was rated best in NYC by New York Magazine.

It's interesting but 2 years ago if you went to Baden, the only time you saw non-koreans where when their korean friends brought them there. nowadays, when i go there 1/2 the people are non-koreans and 99% of the time i never see a korean person with them at their table, i love it!

It's a great restaurant, but what's with blocking off the entrance to Park Avenue going south from 42nd street about 6 months out of the year?

It causes a MASSIVE traffic jam in Midtown, check it out!
