Here is a beautiful apartment stoop in the East Village. I think the iron railing and gate here are new because they don't show any signs of wear and tear that are normally seen in older iron work. Also, the individual pieces are very thin and delicate. Notice the new paint job and the newly polish front door. I think the building just went through a thorough renovation or face lift.
What do you think? Does it look like a restored old gate or a refabricated piece mimicking the old design?

What a beautiful facade and the ironwork (old or new) dresses it up quite a bit. I'd say it's new for the same reasons you outlined. Have a good Sunday!
I couldn't tell one from the other but it looks real good.
Do you encounter any opposition while walking around your city snapping photos like this one? Maybe people are so used to tourists so noone bothers and maybe the climate is sufficiently relaxed. It's been very uncomplicated here but things are clearly changing for the worse.
I have a hunch it's restored....and it is beautiful!
I think its a restored gate.ButI cant be quite sure because Ive never seen any rusty gates like that before. But it is a pretty gate.
Very attrractive entrance to the building., I think the railings are new, but new or restored, they are lovely.
Hey Bud! Love the design of the railing and gate. I think it's new though, but I could be wrong..
...hmmmm, Ming. It looks too good to be true, doesn't it? Nice though.
It's gorgeous, no matter how you look at it!
it looks typical new yorks :)
Definitely refurbished! But very cute nonetheless.
I think it's new. Very nice tho.
I don't know... but it is just beautiful!
Yes, I believe you are right: looks brand new to me. It has lost a bit of the charm but will get it back when time will bring its patina and make this a little less perfect.
