Sunflower

This sunflower design is part of a huge iron gate in front a 5th Avenue store in midtown Manhattan. I am posting an old photo from my archive because I have not been out and about taking new photos this week due to work related issues.

And this weekend, I was in New Jersey (again) visiting an old college buddy and her boyfriend. They have just bought a karaoke machine and we spent the entire weekend singing and catching up on old times.

So have you ever sang at a karaoke bar before? What song did you (or would you) sing?

Apartment Stoop 6

Here is a beautiful apartment stoop in the East Village. I think the iron railing and gate here are new because they don't show any signs of wear and tear that are normally seen in older iron work. Also, the individual pieces are very thin and delicate. Notice the new paint job and the newly polish front door. I think the building just went through a thorough renovation or face lift.

What do you think? Does it look like a restored old gate or a refabricated piece mimicking the old design?

Old Iron Fence

I saw this iron fence in front of an abandoned townhouse on 60th Street and 3rd Avenue on the Upper East Side. It has some very beautiful details that we don't often see any more. I think it was handmade due to the irregular size and shape in the curls above the horizontal beam.

I hope whoever buys this townhouse will try to salvage this fence and not remove it from the building.
