Accident of Nature

I was hoping to get a photo of the baseball diamond in Long Island City (in the background) from where I was standing (on the Queensborough Bridge) but the camera automatically focused on the fence instead. When I loaded the photos onto the computer, I realized this "accidental photo" turned out quite nicely. Yes, it is a wee bit strange but somewhat artistic.

Have you ever taken an accidental photo that turned out better than you expected?

yeah your photo came out more artistic.

yes i also had accidental photos, my favorite is a night shot which made the lamps in the bridge look like ducks, and to think i was frustrated that night cursing my shaky hand for creating blurry shots but alas, checking the photos in my computer prove otherwise =)

Most of my photos are "accidents"; I just put everything on "auto" and then... Anyhow, this accidental photo is excellent!

A very graphic effect indeed.

I loved yesterday's lady and child, such a refined pair in front of the trash cans!

And I'm sorry I missed Amédée and Olivier the other day. So glad you all caught up with each other. Olivier says his English is very limited, I hope you managed to communicate nevertheless!

That is considered to be a "feature" on both of my Canon cameras. It is necessary to be able to focus by hand since the camera wants to focus on something else, like tree branches or leaves and the bird is out of focus.

I've had bad luck with cameras. Good to know that not all cameras aren't out to get you.

It is very artisitc, and somehow mesmerizing. The fence makes for a very interesting pattern. Somehow these "accidental" shots turn out the best!

I agree, it's graphically interesting. Many of my favourites are mishaps. Like this one.

Wonderful accidental photo. Something similar happened to me when I tried to take a photo of the train on the tracks. ;-)

This interlacement is trickier to replicate than it appears, says the weaver.
