Fancy Pumpkins

I saw these fancy pumpkins at the Green Market this weekend at Union Square. I don't think they are not edible; they are purely for decorations only.

I love pumpkin ravioli with sage butter but not a fan of pumpkin pie. What about you? What is your favorite pumpkin recipe?

Ming,

You wanna know the horrid truth? Get ready for this: I have never tasted a pumpkin in my life. Yes, I swear. I'm not lying.

In Sillypore, pumpkins are like pineapples in the artic.

Pumkin soup. I cannot stand that pumkin pie.
I love those mini pumkins. They make fun decoration and last forever (i.e. Christmas).

I LOVED the pumpkin custard that I learned to make at Tim's Kaohom, besides that, Steamed pumpkin Cake (it's like the steamed yam cake you get at Tim Sum) is nice too.

bit of a double-negative there!

To my knowledge the only time I tasted was pumpkin was in New Zealand - a restaurant in Christchurch where we had it as a vegetable accompniament to roast lamb - very nice it was too.

Hyde DP is doing a special pumpkin post for Halloween [Oct 31st] with links to around 30 others - will include this one.

Pumpkin pie is right up there next to god on the menu. With whipped cream it is even better than a trip to Disney Land.

Most of what you are showing are gourds aren't they? I only see one or two real pumpkins. At least that's what we call them here. They dry most of them and make birdhouses.

I love this gorgeous photo! Great shot!

Not a big pumpkin fan here, but I just tried sweet potato pie for the first time--a bit too sweet for me!

Ackworth Born - Thanks for noticing the double negative. I have a tendency to edit my sentences and sometimes, I forget the original structure and get into trouble.

Oldmanlincoln & Isabella - Yes, I think some of them are gourds. All I saw were pumpkins....or at least, that was what was on my mind when I took this photo. :-)

I wonder how people can come up with ideas to make different types of pumpkins.I think the normal round pumpkin is the best pumpkin anyone can ever see.

I enjoy having the pumpkin flesh boiled in coconut milk with pandan leaves and a hint of red sugar.I dont know what pandadn leaves are in English. So sorry. But there you go,my favouritepumpkin recipe.

This has to be the best pumpkin photo I've ever seen. Brilliant, Ming.

My favourite is pumpkin soup. Just adore it with wholemeal bread.

I just had some pumpkin soup last night! Not very impressive though.

I like the pumpkin rice my mum makes. It's a savoury rice with bits of marbled meat (commonly known as tua pui bak. haha), 'hay bee' and pumpkin chunks. They are absolutely delicious!
