Halloween Party in the Village III: Blown Away

These two gentlemen have the most original costumes at the Halloween Party on Wednesday. They created a realistic impression of a windy day eventhough the weather was fairly calm that evening. I love the upswept hair in the first photo and the newspapers-and-leaves effect in the second photo. They must be artists or designers to come up with something so spectacular. Incidentally, we are expecting 30-50 mph wind condition tomorrow from the storm that is developing in the Atlantic.

Click on to The Making of New York City Daily Photo to view a R-rated photo collage from the Halloween street party.

So are you an artistic person? Did you excel in art when you were in school?

You're right; it's very creative. I also think that the red cross medical uniform is very funny! Loved the link! Not artistic, but I appreciate all different kinds of arat.

These have got to be the most creative costumes I can remember seeing! Thanks!

They did a fantastic job, yes!

Thanks for answering my question. How do you know all that? Yeah, I remember, you read a lot of fashion magazines! :)

The storm will hit us too. Wind advisory/warning all day tomorrow and lots of rain. Looks like I won't be out shooting stuff tomorrow :(

Ming, our sweetened ice tea is the 21st century version for two reasons--Mama and I are lazy, and we don't need the sugar, either. So we use Lipton's Cold Brew Tea Bags and Splenda in packets. While it's not the sugary, syrupy iced tea of my childhood, it quenches mine and Mama's thirst right well. Oh, we just about always leave the tea bags in the water overnight--four pitcher-sized bags for a two liter pitcher.

Very original thinking artists, Ming. And they certainly look like they are enjoying themselves too.

Wow, these guys are really artistic, aren't they? Great costumes and an excellent photo, Ming!

Yes, that was very creative!!

I have always thought of myself as an artistic person..even though my artistic impulses were squelched for a while by my parents' insistence that I study engineering and then law. But I've found ways to focus more on the arts - with music and poetry and drawing.

Awesome costume idea. Very original!

I luv art! I have to go to the MOMA and the MET on every trip to NYC...my local community is 'culturally limited' (as politically correct as I could muster) so, it's such a breath of fresh air to visit NYC.

Keep up the amazing photo work!

Waouw!!! This is absolutely excellent. I love the fact that it is not crazy-in-your-face. It's very smart. They must be artists/designers to
render this so right. They get my vote!

Hi Ming, sorry to have been a bit absent lately, but this week was terrible...
Great pictures! The ones on this post are absolutely amazing, and make me think I may have to revisit my views on the lack of interest of Halloween...
Have a great weekend!

Yes, very clever...

They should wear that indoors...

That would be extra wild looking...

That is very creative! I like that it didn't take too much to pull the costume together either - just throw back your umbrella and stick a leaf/newspaper on your leg. So smart!

What great ideas for costumes! I am going to have to remember those, maybe do them myself someday.

I took an art class in college and got an A. The professor told me my A was for effort, not talent. I didn't know whether to be pleased or sad.

Loved your Halloween photos. This year I missed the parade because I was totally exhausted after work and couldn't get myself over to 6th Avenue.

AND....yes, I did excel in art.....graduating from High School of Art and Design another lifetime ago.
