Lecture at the Asia Society

Two nights ago, I was invited by a friend to attend a lecture and book signing event by a world renowned chi gong master (gentleman seated on the right) at the Asia Society, a cultural institution and museum in the Upper East Side. The chi gong master claimed that the martial art, which included breathing exercises, can cure everything from cancer to asthma and diabetes. I was surprised nobody in the audience contradicted his statement. Maybe everyone was being polite.

So what kind of exercise do you do?

I would've been surprised too, Ming. But you never know...

I've been doing quite a bit of Type Kwon Blog lately. :)

A friend of mine wants to drag me to a Tai Chi class... I like the idea, but I went to a class years ago and was bored out of my mind. Maybe I was too young then.
I use to run every morning when I fell out of bed. This year, I started the year by the New Year's Eve run in Central Park, you know, to start the year on the right foot... then zippo...

During the day, I get a lot of finger exercise like Fenix, but at night, we head to the "Y." I do at least 30 minutes on the elliptical and then 15-20 minutes on a variety of strength machines. . . They have this new machine that is similar to the elliptical but imitates rollerblading. I'm going to try that one tonight, I think.

BTW. . .I'm not an exercise nut.

Ming, I somehow think that your commentators are not entering into the spirit of this Eastern Wisdom. ;-)

However....it's certain that plenty of exercise and "healthy" normal eating are good for you, so there's not much magic there, is there?

I hate the going to the gym. Tried yoga for an entire summer, but had such difficulty with some of the poses. Maybe I should try chi gong. My daughter goes to classes in the East Village and swears by it.
