Snow Globe

This photo of a store window decorations was taken at Saks Fifth Avenue, the luxury departmental store on 5th Avenue and 50th Street. Because of the weak U.S. dollar, many retailers are targeting the increasing important tourist market this season.

Recently I bought a snow globe with the skyline of NYC for a friend who collects them. She was so happy with the gift that she baked me a cake the next week.

So what was the best gift you have ever given and/or received?

I didn't know that snow globes had become fashionable. Amazing. And where's the pic of the cake???

I ate the cake before I had a chance to take a photo of it. :-)

It is very beautiful this picture. Each year, I offer a snowball from NYC to my nephew ;o)

A favorite gift? WOW, that's too difficult but a memorable gift was a custom made "butterfly" the body of which is a pea sized diamond. I still wear it on my necklace.

The snow globe makes me think of decisions. When all your options are up in the air and you can't really 'see through'. But once those flakes settle then everything becomes very clear. :)

I need some more time to find an answer to your question! I have never received a snow globe (nor bought), but this one looks fun! A luxury model, I presume?

Neat display. Love the snow globe.

My best gift was from my daughter. She wrote me a note and pasted A LOT of "I LOVE YOU MOM" hearts on the page. She was 4 years old. I love anything homemade..... it has so much more meaning to me.

OMG I love snow globes, I have an old one of NYC pre 9/11 so the towers are up, though one is broken and fallen almost down....looking at it makes me sad.

anyway...ok best gift I've received...antique copy of Wuthering Heights with a very beautiful note inside it.

I am a hopeless romantic

A few years ago, I earned some extra money and gave to my husband a painting we do like, well, not a Picasso but I found delightful to be able to make this surprise!
And my dauhter was born the 22th ofDecember, so it was quite a nice Christmas this year...
(I must confess to have emptied (?) many snow bowls when I was a little girl...)

My favorite gifts are definitely the magazine subscriptions I get from my brother and friends every year.

I love magazines and most subscriptions are fairly inexpensive. In addition, the magazines come every month so I get "gifts" throughout the year.

I'm easy to please.

A friend of mine has just returned from NYC and came back with a snow globe almost identical to this. I can't see the attraction of them but it proves that department stores are attracting the tourists! :)

I love snow globes myself. Very fairy tale-like. Best gift ever - my first puppy ever, who is now 12 years old and is the love of my life!

I love snow globes and they make great gifts....especially for the holidays.

The best gift I remember giving was Wally, a rescue dog from the Brooklyn Animal Control Center, which I gave to Elliot for his birthday.

Once when I lived in Honolulu I gave my best friend a plane ticket to come out and visit and my favorite girt I have gotten is my camera. I always have it with me!
