Lobster Roll for Lunch

I was in SoHo last weekend and walked by Ed's Lobster Bar on Lafayette between Spring and Wooster Street. Since it was almost 2 PM and I haven't had lunch, I decided to stop in for a lobster roll, which is basically lobster meat dressed with a little mayonnaise and lemon juice, and served on a hot dog bun. It was delicious.

So have you ever had a lobster roll?

Nope...and I didn't know it actually exists !!! I had lobster while I was in NYC at a restaurant called Harbour Lights on the 3rd floor of South Street Seaport. It was delicious also but it was a traditional boiled lobster...

I actually had one in Maine a few years back :) I'm a bit of a food traveler...

Philly for cheesesteak, Buffalo for wings, Boston for clam cakes, NY for pizza/prezels/hotdogs, Grand Canyon for rattlesnake...

What should I look for when I head out to California?

Me and my ex went on a tour of lobster rolls in the city when we were together. We sampled Mary's fish Camp, Pearl Oyster Bar, Mermaid Inn and Ed's. My favorite was Pearl

Oh, how mean of you. I've not had lobster since I've been in Hungary. Prawns are shipped in but lobster is prohibitive (for me) at the few places that it is available. :( You and Fenix!! Honestly.

No, and I've never eaten lobster with French fries either!

Yes yes...had mine in a good authentic (at least in my "dictionary") one in California. They claim the lobsters are flown in from Boston! The lobster roll is good but so ex! How much did you pay for this? I remember paying about $18 bucks for my lobster roll!!! :O

The lobster roll was expensive. It cost $25 but I don't eat this often, trust me. It was a treat!

Actually, I had my first when visiting in Maine this summer - and to be honest the one you pictured looks much better than the one I ate!

But, I also live in New England (New Hampshire) and we seem to either have really great lobster rolls or really AWFUL lobster rolls. There isn't a good middle ground!

I've had that once in Boston in a very nice place. Never again. I don't like those sweet breads they serve them on. Actually, I could do without the bread. And lobster is so good by itself it's almost a crime to treat it that way. Sorry, I realize I have strong opinions regarding my lobster, lol. But you asked!
