SoHo (South of Houston Street) used to be a warehouse district but it has become a highly desirable residential area because of the abundance of huge loft spaces. Lofts are essentially living spaces that are open and bright due to lack of walls separating the rooms. The only enclosed spaces in lofts are usually the bathrooms and closets.
So would you like to live in a loft? Would you sacrifice privacy for lots of light and open space?

There are some fabulous solutions for lofts. I think I might try one, just for the change... ;)
Left a blogger's gift for you at the end of my last post on Blogtrotter. Enjoy!
I sacrifice privacy right now, living in a studio apartment.
Don't think I can afford one of those SoHo lofts on a teacher's salary. Too bad.
I'd move into a loft in a second.
Yes yes I would!
Yes, I would be happy to. Here in Paris most of these lofts are in much lower buildings, often in small, calm, more or less "private" streets, and I think that this makes them even more attractive... and expensive! It also upgrades certain arrondissements which previously did not have the best reputation. At the same time, it means of course that a lot of small worskhops are disappearing and that soon only very rich people can afford to live inside Paris.
I would not mind living in a loft all you need is room partitions to section off places like "bed" and "mess"
moi j'aime les studios avec de grandes fenêtres, c'est ce que j'ai et j'adore voir entrer la lumière dans mon studio
Moi j'aime studios with large windows, as my home and I love to see the light come into my studio
I would love to live in a loft. I like all that open space. Maybe if I win the lottery some day!
It must be great! But with many plants and sun light, because I think the atmosphere can be a bit cold...BTW, we can dream...
I dream of living in a loft in New York! I'd move there at the drop of a hat if I had the chance.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
You have received the "Make My Day Bloggers Award"! Check it out at my blog, Torino Daily Photo.
:-)
I don't think I would like living in the city as much as you do Ming.
i would not be able to afford lots of open space in Singapore!
i guess i would like to have the space and light, but at times, there's this invention called the Curtains! :-)
Are you kidding me?? I would LOVE to live in a loft!!! I think you need more than that mio.$ you were talking about in your Plaza post. If you hire a great architect or interior designer you can come up with wonderful ideas on what to do with such a blank canvas. All the possibilities... The privacy thing is a question of design: you can leave it as an open space of partition it.
