The Plaza, which used to be a 4-star hotel, is now a luxury condominium. After almost 2 years of renovations, the landmark building is now open and a one-bedroom apartment costs about $1 million.
If you had $1 million, what would you do with it?
Welcome to the city that never sleeps!

That's such a stately building.

Well, I'd buy you a monkey - Haven't you always wanted a monkey?... ♫ ♪
Only a million a bedroom! Well, I'd probably not spend it on one bedroom!
If I had a million dollars.... well, it wouldn't be a one bedroom in The Plaza... it would probably be a place in the country, fresh air, sunshine, a nice garden.... and a snowblower!!!!
I's buy a summer cabin home up north and a motor home for everything in between:)
Well i wouldn't buy a one bedroom apartment, that's for sure!
I'd pay some bills, have a holiday and buy some property in the uk to sell on and buy more and sell on and buy more... yep i'd become a property developer.
Nice shot!
One million is not bad for a 1 br in the Plaza.
I would probably buy a 1br in the West Village....though one million is barely enough for a down payment at Richard Meier's 165 Charles.
The Plaza is no longer a hotel? Weird. Last time I was there I saw Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley... when they were still a couple!
$1 Million huh? As much as I liked New York when I visited a few years ago, it wouldnt be for a one bedroom apartment in the Plaza. I would probably buy a house but with some land out in the country. Somewhere in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas or Missouri.
It does look like a stately building. With a million USD?! :) Buy me a flat on Andrassy ut that has a roof terrace (sells for 1.3million HUF per square meter) and spend my winters in Sorrento, Italy.
$1 million! Wow! Thats a mega amount for one bedroom. I'd spend it on having a relaxing life, doing what I want for a change.
travel the world
So the Plaza is back in style...
But one million for one bedroom is probably too much... Better use it for another RTW, but this time taking at least one year... ;)
For the time being, just finished Budapest posts...
Have a great weekend!
What a beautiful shot!
That's the first shot I've seen without the ugly scaffolding all over it!
Nicely captured!
"Who wants to be a millionaire? I don't!" I like this old song!
I stayed at The Plaza during one of its final days as a hotel and it was horrible! I'm sure the one-bed apartment for a $1 million is much much lovelier!
Fabulous photograph. I'd retire and give some money to animal welfare. and I'd visit you in New York, Ming and take you somewhere wondrous for a meal. Your choice?
2 words Manolo Blahnik!! A couple of pairs of them and then got on the property ladder.
buy an apt. well i guess in NYC, it's more like put a down payment on an apt, and then take out some huge mortgage.
What an impressive building!
Buy an apartament on NY! (Just kidding!)
$1 million? Hmm.. buy a unit of the apartment you posted? haha..
Set up a Chair Professorship. LOL...
Imagine... The Keropok Man Professor in Information Systems. Hmmm...
My how the times have changed! I surely wouldn't spend my one million on a one bedroom apartment at the Plaza.
Great picture, Ming! It looks very pretty now, without its schaffolding. And I love the building behind it too. And the Paris cinemas just right there. And the Apple store accross the street. And the park on the other side. And... ok, ok, ok, I stop.
I think you may be completely off with this $1mio. It seems cheap for an appartment there. I thought it was much much higher than that. I had 4 in mind but maybe I am dreaming.
What would I do with a mio.$? It would probably go for some piece of real estate.
Oh Wow!
A million dollars? I suspect most of it would probably go to some of the charities in Jamaica.
But I'd really want a little apartment in New York or Paris too! :-D
Ah ! The Plaza, my preferred ! If I had $1million I... will ask you what to do :-D
