Succulents

This succulents were available for sale at the Green Market in Union Square last weekend. I love cacti because they do not need a lot of attention. However, my cacti start to grow tall and stringy after a couple of months instead of staying short and plump like these.

What kind of plants do you have at home?

Hi Ming,

Those are so colorful.

Perhaps you don't have enough light in your home and so your cacti try to "reach" for it, growing long and stringy.

Speaking of string - you asked about my sweater. It's meant to be a light and airy one, worn over something more than just skin.

I have one African violet and one peace lily inside. That's enough for me!

Yeah, most cacti wind up growing lopsided when kept indoors, unless placed directly under a skylight or in one of those "garden windows."

Oh, and you forgot to answer my question, so here's take two: How did you like Boquería tapas? Would you recommend that place?

Hi MIng, sorry again for having been a bit absent, but my week was too crowded...
It seems that Union Square is an endless source of inspiration here; I think it's a great choice. Next time will probably try to stay at the W there... ;)
As far as flowers are concerned, I must confess that I prefer the «tapas»... ;))
Thanks for the comments at Blogtrotter
Enjoy a great weekend!

I love succulents as well!! I have a bunch, and also orchids. I'm mad about orchids.

I have silk plants. . . .except for one plant (hibiscus, I think) that my aunt gave me just before she died in 1994. It's the only house plant I have managed to keep alive for more than a few months.

Ah, lovely Ming. I've lots of plants like these. Can't believe the price! Here you would get something like this for half the price, or less, as they are pretty small.

I love succulents. They are so easy but probably it's the climate. I'd not think they'd like a NY winter.

No real plants to speak - I keep buying them...they keep dying...so, I settle for fresh cut flowers every few weeks...

Nice shot, I like the colours- greens, silvers, purples. I'm no good with plants, so don't bother anymore!

I usually bring some of my summer potted plants, e.g. geraniums, inside for the winter, but this year they got left in the back room while I was away on vacation... it got cold early and they all froze, poor things. So I'll have to start again in the spring.
Meanwhile I have a HUGE pointsetta left over from Christmas, and an amaryllis with Two, yes TWO, flower buds that seems to be growing at least an inch a day!

I love cacti too. Not enough light makes em leggy. I'm resigned that really all I can have are snake plants... Sad but true!

I love succulents and cacti as well, because the ants leaves them in peace, or don't eat them!

Hi Ming, I have basil, lime, chilli and other plants on my balcony.

If you like cacti, you should come take a look here. It's RM 8 here. With USD 8, you can actually buy 3 of these over here.

Inside the house: None. Because the cats eat 'em.

Outside are some chili plants, a bell pepper and all kinds of herbs.
