After The Rain

It rained cats and dogs almost non-stop from Friday evening through Sunday morning this past weekend. But the rain stopped briefly on Saturday evening when I went to the East Village to meet some friends for dinner. On the way to dinner, I saw puddles of water everywhere and noticed the interesting reflections in them. So I took out my camera and starting taking photos.

This is one of the few photos that came out nicely because of the light from a car approaching and the person crossing the street when I took the photo. The other 6 or so photos I took were not as interesting because they lacked context or movement. I guess every element serendipitously came together in this shot.

So how many photos/shots do you normally take for each "scene" when you are out shooting photos for your blog?

I have to think the dogs came before the rain ... didn't I see one reluctant puppy yesterday? -:)

Your photo today is remarkably similar posted on the Rome Italy CDP a couple days ago. Very nice.

Sometimes I'm lucky with 1 or 2 exposures ... other times anywhere from 3-30 ... and even then there is no guarantee. Sketching with your camera is what it's all about. And today it worked well for you!

Nice reflection and it is so clear!
# of shots for each "scene" - for me, it depends on LUCK!

thr's something geographically not very new yorkish abt this pic. maybe it's the cobblestone path, which makes me think of europe rather than nyc...

Your choice is a great one. I usually take way to many pictures of the same thing. I am lucky if one looks ok.

I like this photo. Makes me wonder where the water goes when it goes beyond the bricks?

It happens a lot in this picture. Interesting. Lovely light too. I usually come back with 200 pictures. For each "scene" I take 5 to10 pictures. In the end I usually have 6 or 7 pictures that I like.

Serendipity is one of my favourite words, Ming. This photo is a treasure. Just beautiful.

If I'm planning a shot, I'll take about 5 or 6. Often tho, I catch a moment, someone walking towards me, an action, whatever - and then I can only take one - and yes, then it's serendipitious if it works or not.

Because I live up a mountain I normal go out once a week and take about 200 or 300 shots - so lots don't get used! I enjoy it tho!

You picked a very nice one!

You may have noticed that I always put more than one photo at a time...! I guess that in average I take maybe 5 times more than what I publish.

This photo is great. Sometimes it works well for me and I only take 1 or 2 shots. Other times I take heaps and I don't like any of them. Do you do much work on your pices after you have taken them?

That is interesting, and I love the cobblestones.

I really like this photo. I like the light in it.

I normally take half a dozen or so photos of the same thing. More often than not I don't like any of them!

It depends...if it is a photo of my knitting or quilting I'll take a few to make sure I get the colors just right!

Nice colors in this photo. Be glad it rained and didn't snow. Can you imagine how much snow all that rain would have been?

Re: shots. . . .A lot of times, I take one or two, but at other times, I take a lot more.

All that NYC rain fell as Toronto snow here, and I'm still digging out! Snow mountains each side of the road, we are running out of places to pile it all!
In answer to your question.... sometimes only 1 shot, sometimes mulitple.

That's a fantastic shot and very artistic! You have a great eye for seeing the interesting things all around you.

It's good that you take many shots of the same thing. I need to start doing that because I usually realize too late I didn't get a good shot!
