No Sushi

I saw this sign posted outside a Japanese tea cafe on Thompson between Spring and Bloome Street in SoHo. Apparently the manager of the cafe was tired of telling diners that they don't serve sushi there. I thought it was hilarious.

So do you eat sushi or do you prefer your food cooked?

Yep, sushi eater here. But the only kind here in little Willits is cooked crab, etc. But whenever I get the chance, good old red tuna, or yellowtail, or flying fish roe topped with a raw quail egg yolk. Yum!

I have eaten sushi several times but I like to try things new and sometimes a little weird. But if I were headed for lunch I would choose the previous post and have lunch on Mulberry St. The outdoor dining looks great. I love the 1800's photo of Mulberry St. where it curves. I found myself there by accident on my last trip (o.k. I was lost). Love the Lower East Side. Have a great week.

Hi Ming! Here I am for the weekly visit… ;)
Just had a sushi buffet today at a Japanese resto called Nagoya... But, as you know, there are so many Japanese cuisines (and so many restaurants in Japan that do not serve sushi) that the sign makes sense...
Da Gennaro... How I miss it just across Canal: Chinatown... ;))
Train to JFK? A nightmare...
Hula hoop? Almost fifty years ago, probably; not any longer with this disc herniation...
Thanks for your comment on Blogtrotter, which has now landed in the imperial town of Marrakesh, the Red City!
Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend!

This is my first post on your blog but I popped on over from another NYC Daily Photo site.

While I have eaten Sushi I have not eaten anything involving fish I have only eaten the kind with the Veggies in it, I don't think I could eat raw fish grosses me out a bit, I'm a Vegetarian like babooshka is and have recently stopped eating fish a few weeks ago but even if I did eat fish I wouldn't eat raw fish. Love the sign by the way it's too funny

No raw fish for me, I'm afraid. An original sign. I'm not sure it helps though. Half the visitors won't see it and the other half will want to ask about the sign so that manager is still in the same fix, I'd say! ;)
