Mangia Alfresco

The weather last Saturday was perfect and Mulberry Street in Little Italy was closed off to automobile traffic -- only pedestrians were allowed. The restaurants lining the street took full advantage of the situation and moved all their tables out to the street. As you can see, everyone was having a great time dining al fresco. Even I got into the mood and had dinner here (but not at Ristorante da Gennaro). I had penne pasta with Italian sausage and meatballs.

So when was the last time you ate a meal outdoors?

Oh, Ming!! I've been there! the last time we were in NYC, we ate at De Gennaro. I've also eaten at Lunesta (The one with the big moon logo.) and another one. We love Mulberry St.

Last time we ate outdoors was last month in Las Vegas. . .We ate outside a few times at breakfast, once at lunch and twice at dinner.

I love Little Italy and must make a point of going down there. Eating outdoors is so New York. Several weeks ago we ate outdoors at Gemma on the Bowery.

Hey, I was just at that restaurant! Cosmic coincidence...

I generally don't like eating outdoors. It's usually too sunny, and I don't like the sun in my face when I'm eating.

j'adore les "Penne Pasta" surtout avec une sauce Vodka, et j'en jamais mangé d'aussi bonne qu'a NYC.
Bon Weekend

I love "Penne Pasta" especially with a vodka sauce, and I never ate so good that NYC.
Good Weekend

Answer to your question: Yesterday! ... and probably again today. Outside eating is a great pleasure (especially for smokers)!

I last time I had a meal outdoors was in Paris, France. It was paradise.

On another note, it's impossible to eat lunch outdoors in Singapore because of the heat and humidity. You'll only end up in a puddle of sweat and nothing else. You'll feel miserable and sick because outdoor temperatures usually hits 35C. Even at night, it's an unforgiving 30C. Mucky. that's the word.

Ming...interesting photo..All the people seem bored...what is going on there? I believe they have been waiting too long to be served :)...anyway....

We had breakfast out on our lanai last week..very nice old fashioned style..biscuits with peach preserves, eggs, sausage, coffee..It was quite nice...

How cool! Restaurants on the street! I ate lunch at a sidewalk cafe yesterday and was being approached by the beggers. But being in the sun was worth it :)

Love Little Italy, love NYC in general. Yes, I wonder why the people don't look happy, too. I would, if I were in NY right now. Last time I ate outside was just the other day, here in Belgrade.

Hope I can go there sometime...
Just had a luncheon on the patio with some friends this past week.

I haven't eaten outside at a restaurant since last summer's sunny weather, but I ate my lunch outside on my patio yesterday, surrounded by spring flowers blwing in the light breeze, birds singing and my apple tree in full bloom. What was for lunch? Cream of Carrot soup and Triscuits!! YUM.

I can't remember the last time I had a meal outdoors...it has been so cold here! I don't suppose eating a croissant in my car counts? This is a lovely photo, and I loved looking at all the small details!

It's usually too hot here to eat outside, sadly, so I usually opt to be inside.

My dog and I just got back from coffee outdoors... does that count ;)

Great photo. Reminds me of an afternoon in Florence!

I am finally back to blogging and did a new post on Vietnam you might find interesting!
