Converted Co-op Building

I have posted a photo of this former police department a couple months ago. It is now a luxury condominium in downtown Manhattan, near Chinatown. The first time I walked by it, I thought it was a public building so I walked into the lobby. The doorman told me it was a private residence so I was not allowed to take photos of the inside.

I wonder what it would be like to live in that clock tower with all the windows. Would it be like a movie scene where you can see the clock from the inside of the building?

So have you ever been up a clock tower or a light house?

Oh yes, living up there would be nice.

I've been up a couple of church towers in Europe. Once, the bells started ringing and I almost had a heart attack.

Never been in either a lighthouse or clock tower.

I had no idea that building was converted into condos.

Next thing you know they'll be converting the Tombs detention center into luxury studios.

Yes, I've been up clock towers and light houses, we have many churches and cathedrals in France, many light houses in Brittany. It's always a pleasure to enjoy the view from the top!
This building is beautiful, maybe the bed is round?

I have been to a few light houses.

To tell the truth they weren't very exciting.

I really like your work you make me want to come back home.

Can't imagine this building as a condo. Wonder how they split it all up?
Yes, went up a lighthouse on the trip to Puerto Vallarta recently posted.

Beautiful. I'd love to live there, or at least have a lengthy visit. Sorry you couldn't take photos.

The clock view from inside the Musee d'Orsay comes to mind. And if you climb to the top of Notre Dame in Paris you can visit the inside of one of the bell towers. But I've never been inside a light house. I think I'd love it.

Ming...I love this old building...my goodness ...they just don't make them like that anymore...I would think the inside is beautiful...

I've not been in a clock tower or a lighthouse...do you suppose I need to put it on my "bucket list" ?? have a great weekend...

Been up several clock towers in the UK and one lighthouse. I'd rather live in the lightouse, look what happened to Quasimodo in the bell tower. Beautiful facade and yes it is a shame that you couldn't photograph inside.

Are you sure someone lives up there?

Lighthouses are so fascinating, been to a couple of them with more on the wish list.

I got to go up to the top of the Point Arena lighthouse on our Mendocino coast. It has a beautiful Fresnel lens and is perched way out on a point on the Pacific ocean. I recently heard that some people had arranged to have an exclusive little party up there, but things got out of hand. Someone among the drinking revelers used their diamond ring to scratch graffiti into the crystal of the lens! What gets into people?!

Oooo! If you want to experience the view from the tower on Dry Tortugas Island National Park, go to this page and scroll down to Dry Tortugas to launch it:

Interactive panoramas of US national parks.

They are all loads of fun, but that's my favorite.

I've walked past this building as well and admired the wonderful lions guarding the front door. I do believe it is the same building. Looks like a neat building to call home!

I had a wonderful opportunity in Bolivia to go up a clock tower with the clock winder and see and participate in the winding of the clock, I have a picture of it way back somewhere on my flickr: http://flickr.com/photos/carlamarieweir/352360229/
