Zolay, the Siamese Cat

This is Zolay, one of two Siamese cats belonging to a friend of mine. The two cats are very friendly and sociable, even with strangers like me. They patiently posed for me but I only managed to capture a few good shots because they kept blinking or looking away from the camera. This is the shot I like best because Zolay was looking directly at me.

Normally, I'm not a fan of cats but these two boys are totally adorable. I'm almost a cat convert because of them . . . almost!! :-) But I'm still a dog person. Even on my worst days, a dog will always make me smile.

So do you prefer dogs or cats? Or fish?

Great photo!
Best cat I ever had was a Siamese: Eugene (who became Eugene Eunuch after he got, ahem, fixed).
And the second-best cat I ever had was half Siamese.

Nice shot, cats are so difficult to photograph - unless they are asleep.

I prefer doggie, of course I have 5 fishes as well, they are realy funny, no matter how much I feed them they look like they've never eaten anything..

I straddle the fence on dogs and cats, and horses, and birds, and fish, and rocks. Did I love Pepper more than Angel more than Binky? Right now, I just have pet rocks.

i like siamese... my neighbour's siamese Tommy comes over to my house every day. He's very friendly and would pose for photos and videos anytime.
I like cats better coz they don't bark. ;P

Ming, your new friend is very good looking. I'm sure he's pleased with your portrait of him. My parents had three Siamese cats, beginning with Pudder when I was four, then Hoi Toi, another female some months later, and finally Kee Kee, a huge male. Kee Kee fathered litters with both females and eight kittens (4 each) arrived within a couple days of each other. Pudder took all Hoi Toi's kittens from the bottom of the linen closet and tucked them in with her own brood in the bottom dresser drawer. Then the females would take turns sitting in the drawer and nursing the kittens or taking a break to get some water and food and exercise. Kee Kee would sit near the drawer like a sphinx and peer over the top at his little family. Both Pudder and Kee Kee taught themselves to use the toilet. Pudder lived to the ripe old age of 20, dying shortly after I graduated from college. My daughter's sweet black cat is the dearest pet we've ever had, though, and that's saying something after 20 years of Pudder. My folks had lots of dogs and other pets, and our daughter has had a rotating menagerie of fish, amphibians, reptiles, and rodents. My mom's dog lives with us now. We like them all.

il est mignon ce chat. Je préfère les poissons pour donner a manger au chat.
it is this cute cat. I prefer fish to eat a cat.

Put it this way, Ming. I live with two cats. I would live with dogs, too - but they have more personal care requirements than cats. They need more exercise. They need more space. They need play rather than cuddles. If I had more space, and if I had a 10 year old grandson, then I would have a dog, too.

For company: dogs. For eating: fish!

I have two cats but I think I'm a dogperson. What I really want is a horse.

My daughter has about 11 cats including two inside and the others are all "fixed" who live outside. I like dogs best too, like you, but could make a cat work as a friend. I think.

This is a nice shot, and the eyes are looking at you for sure.

I love dogs, but I love cats too. I never thought I would be a cat person until I got one of my very own, a three-legged siamese! She is the sweetest cat in the world. I now have two cats and they are wonderful, and have big personalities (much to my surprise!)

aw, he is magnificent!
How funny because I published a photo today of a dog. I really love all animals. People think I'm a bit nuts because I will exclaim when I see a cute dog or cat while out.

Having grown up with a string of pets--cats, dogs, birds, fish, lizards, etcetera--I'm pretty much over pets myself. My family is not. If one has to have a pet [an idea I don't exactly embrace], you would be hard pressed to find a better one than Cosmo, a little black stray cat who showed up on our doorstep and stayed for more than 17 years.

Ming...I am not a cat person...but this photo of Zolay(love the name) is just awesome...love the eyes looking at you..

We are poodle dog lovers...We had a white poodle (Zha Zha) ...almost standard size..for l6 years..She was gorgeous..we had her clipped and bathed often and she was show dog beautiful...we miss her still...

Ming, I much prefer cats ... but, I like dogs very much as well. Check my post tomorrow for a small clue of this preference ... :)

Please excuse my intermittent visits and comments lately. Summer (well in some parts of the world) brings much extra work my direction. I'll visit and leave a comment as often as possible, however.

I'm a cat person! 100%! My cat even has his own blog!, check it out through my CDPB (the link is on the side.)

This is a great photo. I know what you mean about them blinking or moving. Many times I've struggled to get a shot!

I'd agree with Peter on that one. We only had a dog once when I grew up but the memories are always there.

I have had of these Siamese. Sisters, from a litter of 7 girls.
These two were with me until one passed away a few years ago; now her sister will not shut up! They're so vocal, but so personal.
I am definetely a cat person. But I see someday having a dog because my brothers dog is very cool.
(and actually listens!)

I had 5 cats and a dog years ago. Lots of hair AND hairballs around.

Now I have just one dog, and I like it better that way.

DOGS! By a long shot. My two doggies are always happy when I arrive home in the evenings from a long stressful workday.

However, this pic of the cat is gorgeous!
