Alma Restaurant at Columbia Street Waterfront District

Last night, my out-of-town friends (former college buddies) and I met up with another alumnus at a restaurant in Brooklyn called, Alma Restaurant in the Columbia Street Waterfront District. This is a part of Brooklyn that I have never visited before so I was excited to see the neighborhood. The restaurant is set near the water so the Manhattan skyline was clearly visible from the third floor rooftop dining patio. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my camera (UGH!!!) and missed out on a great opportunity to photograph the awesome view of the city.

This photo above was taken with my cell phone. The other photos I took with it did not come out great. I will have to make another trip back to the neighborhood with my camera in the near future.

So have you ever have a missed opportunity?

N.B.: Click on the two links above to see what scenery I was talking about.

Hey! It's great to have a reason to go back and explore even more. As for me, I miss more opportunities than I can remember, and probably more than I even realize are there! But I do try to always have my camera with me.

Yes, I like the light too. Good job with a cell. Missed opportunities, oh yeah. The sad thing is I usually miss most of them when I have my camera in hand! I am not terribly consistent in the light, apeture, shutter speed department. Still hit and miss. YOu definitely must return to the scene of the crime and take some more!

I really do understand what you mean...
I certainly missed many opportunities when I was in NY last month...
But I'm proud to talk about the neighborhood where I lived (East Harlem, about Staten Island, Brooklyn and its botanic garden, Williamsburg, Brighton beach...
All these places where I didn't see many tourists like me !
Sure I'll be back in NY.

That's a realy good photo for a cell phone - it looks like Italy, not Brooklyn!
And I can use my quote again! It's a feature, not a problem! You have a great reason to return.

I followed the links and you really did miss out! Welcome to my world, its a running theme with me - great photo opportunity, no camera! When will I learn to carry it around with me?!

Very unlike you Ming to forget your camera. Still, the camera photo looks great.

I checked out Alma's menu and I must say I'm missing some good food in the outer boroughs.

Not bad for a camera phone! Looks like it was beautiful sunset.

Missed opps? All the time. More than I care to admit. And the worst are when I actually have a camera with me and I don't take advantage of it.

What the heck kind of phone do you have? The photo is pretty good!!

Missed opportunities. . .Oh, my friend! There are too many to tell!!

Come on, join the club of the camera phone bloggers! The cool part is that you can travel light. Lovely tones and light here.

I have never heard of this neighborhood but it looks like it is very close to Red Hook, which I discovered recently. I was shocked by the views they have there.

Hmm, missed photo op? All the time: see, even with a camera phone, you can forget it at home... or forget to charge it... I am a specialist!

Ditto to all of the above. I often forget the camera and am too far away to go back. I've even run into a drugstore and bought a throw away out of desperation!

I have taken pics with my phone, but they are nothing like the one you were able to get. Nice photo Ming.

Gotta agree: Great shot w/the cell.
Missed opportunity? I recently found myself 5 feet away from the Dalai Lama. I did have my camera, but didn't take it out—too thrilled and delighted.
