Cellist Video Shoot

I saw this video shoot for a cellist at Columbus Circle this past weekend. When I started taking photos of the group, the guys behind the cameraman started forming a circle around the cellist and cameraman. I don't know if they were trying to block my view or they just happened to move around and inadvertently blocked my view. Nonetheless, if someone had come up to me and told me I can't photograph them, I would have apologized and put my camera away.

So has this ever happened to you?

N.B.: Does anyone recognize the cellist? Is he someone famous?

Unfortunately his face is covered so I can't tell. Doesn't look familiar, though.

Maybe it was just a J. Crew catalog shoot, hahahaha.

how odd about being blocked? I'm sure they were just into the scene.

These guys may be students or it may be a for a commercial?

that was funny teahouse!
Ming, I wonder if those guys were actually trying to get in your photograph?
mostly it's my relatives that try and stop me from taking their pictures.

Who knows, but I like this "garage band" look! Sitting on boxes etc. Great shot before the musician's mafia closed in on ya.

I would do the same, Ming.

Maybe they were shooting a "You Tube" video? I too like the "garage band" look (as previously commented).

Now that's a sight to see — a cellist on the street! Was he any good?

I love all your pictures and the fact that there is always something happening in New York City!

No idea of identity ... but we've had that conversation before :)

Yes, people often get in my way. It seems many have a sense they are being photographed and turn away, or do some other seemingly innocent avoidance technique. Very infrequently does anybody actually ask or tell me to stop. Usually by the time anybody does, I've got what I wanted in the first place and more would simply be insurance, or variations.

This is a great shot - as have been quite a few in the last week or two that i have been remiss in commenting.

Don't recognize the cellist - but, I am not into that type music.

No idea who he is, but he sure does have a lot of long hair.

Strange, if they did not want to be photographed, they should not have been outside playing music in the open air...!
A nice catch though. I like these urban moments.
