This gigantic structure by Jean Dubuffet is one of half a dozen pieces installed inside the glassed-in garden behind Trump Tower on 5th Avenue. The garden space include a cafe and lots of tables and chairs facing Madison Avenue. It is one of the few spaces in midtown Manhattan to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee.
So do you have a favorite place to enjoy your coffee?
N.B.: Thanks to Hélène of Taches et Couleurs for identifying the artist of this sculpture.

Great shot, Ming!
I only drink decaf, but to tell the truth I really enjoy a cup of coffee in the rocking chair in my own kitchen
(2nd choice: any café in Paris!).
Looks like a piece of paper that someone doodled on with markers then crumpled. I like it! :D
The glassed-in garden sounds wonderful in the middle of a city!
j'adore cette sculpture, elle est superbe. A NYC, je préfère prendre mon café dans le Bryant Park ;o)

Lovely scupture , but who is the artist !
And I went to the Trump Tower so how did I miss this garden? What an amazing structure. Love it! Sounds like a great place for coffee.
Here in Paris I often go to a café just outside of the Luxembourg Gardens.
Ca ressemble très très fort à une sculpture de Dubuffet. Voir http://www.flickr.com/photos/wallyg/1393444151/ pour la statue qui est dans la cour de la Caisse des Dépôts et Consignation à Paris.
Is this very interesting piece supposed to represent anyone in particular? Donald Trump?
I didn't know there was a glassed-in garden behind the Trump Tower. Thanks for the photo and the info.
LOVE this Ming. IT"s huge!!! Great photo and no, I'm not a coffee junkie. I may go to a local bookstore for a cup every so often. I save my money for wine!HA

Impressive!
You know I love my midmorning cup of coffee...
Here in Verona, Tubino and L'Aquila Nera are my favourites...
Cool art!
Interesting! I photographed a sculpture in Paris that must be by this same artist.

Thanks for the info, Ming! Happy Valentine's Day, too!!
Wow, Dubuffet at the Atrium? That's new!! It wasn't there when I used to walk to The Drake... ;)
Great shot!
There was an article somewhere that referred to this kind of thing as Corporate Art... I hadn't heard that term before... But there is a difference from these things and Public Art... So I gotta try to remember that term when I tag my photos in Flickr
