Pixelated Mural

This pixelated mural is located on the 2nd floor wall of an apartment building on Prince Street near Bowery in Nolita. I don't know who the image is (Bernie Madoff?) but it is definitely an interesting piece artwork.

So where is the most interesting place you have seen a mural or artwork?

Did you try walking far away from it? An image like that should come into focus from a distance.

My first thought was Chairman Mao.

I took this shot too on my visit to your city. I thought he's Kim Jong Il - the Korean somebody somebody!

Yep. Get back away and it will become clear. NCR, where I once worked, used the pixel technique on photos so that people up close were puzzled and those far away knew right off what it was.

I think graffiti or outdoor mural art is quite amazing, it gives creative people a place to express themselves and reach a captive audience, but perhaps that audience doesn't always appreciate the art. I rather like the chap in the pinstiped suit in your last post.

That looks ... harder than painting a straight forward painting-mural? I thought of Mao fist, too.

Odd. It looks a bit like Danny DeVito with a longish toupee.

I was thinking the same thing as Lincoln, if you get far away enough it'll become clear!
