Rope Jumping

I was at Union Square earlier this week when I saw these college kids -- most likely NYU students -- jumping rope with their friends. Then strangers, one by one, began to stop by and watch or join in the game. At one point, there were at least 50 people or so cheering and laughing with the group. It was so refreshing and wonderful to see strangers come together and have fun like that.

No, I did not attempt to join the fun but I did take a lot of photos. This one shows a girl doing the jump in 3" heels.

So have you ever jumped rope or simply commune with strangers and had a great time?

Jumping rope on high heels???
I did it when in elementary, of course minus 3" heels ^.^.
Happy weekend, Ming.

That's insane that she was wearing heels that high (and from the looks of it, stilettos!!!!) and jumping rope! Well, if anything had gone wrong she would have had lots of people around to help get her to the hospital...

There is a saying here: «of doctor and of mad, we all have a share...»
Amazing!

Don't you want to try Blogtrotter for another kind of «madness»? ;))
Have a great sunday!

Anything can, and usually does happen in New York.

On a cruise we ported at Jamaica and they arranged for us to climb the falls as a team...it was indeed an amazing experience to have to depend on someone you don't know and to cheer for others to make it.....as for jumping rope ...too old now and never in high heels!

This is a chidren's game in Greece, I couldn't imagine that grown ups would enjoy with it! And we call it "play the little rope".

No, I can't remember ever enjoy with strangers (a bit antisocial, I am!).

The atmosphere must have been really involving if she did rope jumping on stilettos!
I used to play rope jumping for hours when I was a child, it was real fun, I loved it!
Can the disco club be considered a commune activity? If so, I did, yes, commune with strangers and had a great great time dancing!!!!

I think the last time I jumped rope, I must have been 12 years old. After that, it was way less cool. Glad to see it is back in style... with stilettos...

I've had some wonderful moments with virtual strangers—after all, I live in NYC.

Ropejumping was done in my childhood. Without highheels.
