Tiled Wall

This tile work is one of a couple of new pieces installed inside the new subway station at the southern most tip of Manhattan, near the Staten Island Ferry Station. Downtown Manhattan, especially near Battery Park is one of the newest neighborhoods in the city.

So what do you have plan for your day off today (Memorial Day in the US).

Someone has talent and patience.
It's a bank holiday in scotland but I have to work it.

I like the detail and the artist must have been very patient!

I plan on just hanging out with friends and enjoying having the day off. Come check out my blog. I posted pictures from the weenie dog parade.

Beautiful, absolutely!
No day off, here...I'm afraid...
But tomorrow my husband has a day off, as it happens, and we'll be going to the Garda Lake for a refreshing swim...it's got unbelievably hot here...

I adore those tiled trees! No Memorial Day here in Canada, we had Victoria Day last Monday instead.

Just love this, Ming. Beautiful art work. Sorry I've been absent. Been crazy busy here. I always look at your blog tho and always such interesting shots.

This mosaic is quite something. I love the colors as well as the shapes. We never went under ground - there was too much to see at street level and way above! Now I'm seeing some of what we missed. Thanks!

I remember the old neighborhoods in Battery Park and how it all looked when I lived on SI and took the ferry each day. It is a bittersweet memory of what was lost and what is gained since 9/11
thanks for the great pictures!
