San Gennaro Feast @ Little Italy

The weather on Sunday was simply perfect -- it was dry, sunny and cool. I headed downtown to meet some friends for lunch and we came upon the San Gennaro Feast in Little Italy. Actually the music was what alerted us to the street fair. There was at least a mile of booths selling food and drinks, games and candies, and there was even a stage where a live band was playing.

The Trecels, a cover band that played mostly doo-wop music from the 50s and 60s, were excellent. We stayed for both sets of the concert and swayed to songs like Teenager in Love and Why Do Fools Fall in Love. Some audience even went up to the front and danced, like the couple in this photo. All in all, it was a wonderful Sunday.

So what kind of music do you like?

50's music is great - I love Elvis! thanks to my Mother.

enoy some late 70's music -
3 older brothers to thank for that.

LOVE THE 80's..... OUTFIELD, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Def Leppard - just to name a few.

Interesting photo - I really wanted to inspect those tattoos.

ALSO..... big news..... I've started (it's in the works) a daily photo blog. I'll keep you posted when and where to find it. I've added you as a link. I am hoping to go "live" 10/01/07! Wish me luck!

These are some mean tattoos...
I had High Tea at The Pierre with my girlfriends, with classical music in the background. Which everybody knows is the perfect accompaniment for earl grey, tea sandwiches and scones.
Doo-woop however sounds a little weird to me, you know, for the location and the event. Cannolli need something different! ;)

Ah, Ming, music moves my soul--I like just about all of it from the country and western of Alabama to the driving music of U2--soul, rock'n'roll, the blues, jazz, bluegrass, the oldies of the '50s, '60s and '70s, big band music, opera, Broadway, classical music, movie soundtracks, and the beats of rap/hip-hop (if not the lyrics). I can't list all of the artists 'cause my fingers would fall off from typing!

ce devait etre une fete sympathique. La musique des années 60, nostalgie quand tu nous tiens.
Je suis tres jazz & blues.
Sinon, oui, je viens toujours en Octobre, je suis presse de retrouver la Big City.

it was to be a festival sympathetic nerve. Music of the Sixties, nostalgia when you hold us.
I am very jazz & blues.
If not, yes, I always come in October, I am press to find Big City.

Sounds like a fun Sunday Ming! I too was intrigued by the guy's tattoos :o)

I worked on Sunday, but Saturday was a beautiful sunshine-y day where I went to the hairdresser and lunched with girlfriends.

I love so many styles of music, depending on my mood. I'd love to list my all time favourites, but there are just too many. The only style I've never taken to though is country & western.

I like any music! Preferrably the right music for the right spot! The atmosphere is important!

I was surrounded by music this weekend, some fantastic activities in every bar and and restaurant around where I live and then Celtic bagpipe music on the Champs Elysées!! ... and like in NYC, nice weather!!

I love the San Gennaro festival!! I was hoping to go down last weekend but I never made it, so I'm glad to see your photo. I love the shot of these dancers! They look like they were having fun.

Oh Ming, wish I'd been there.

Music: Blues, jazzy, Elvis love songs, Coltrane, guitar, Bach. I like so many types of music - just nothing too screechy and discordant is all.

Glad to hear you had a good time, Ming! I got some really nice music compilations this last trip; 'Shanghai Divas', 'Music to watch girls by' and Nat King Cole's Spanich collection- they are really refreshing compared to what's played on the radio a zillion times a day!

Hey, I'd forgotten that San Gennaro was going on right now!! I'm jealous..I love that festival.

I liked classical but also a lot of contemporary music, and of course I'm a child of the 80s.
