Sugar Plum Fairy

This little sugar plum fairy was on one of the store windows of ABC Carpets at Union Square. I like the simplicity and color scheme of the window decoration.

So what is a sugar plum fairy? I mean, how is she different from all the other fairies in the gnome and goblin world?

How did you know this was a sugar plum fairy ? I only know the classical "Sugar Plum Fairy" by Tchaikovsky and I like that tune. :)

Very tinny thinny sugar plum fairy! I thought she must be a little bit fatter!!!!! Great photo anyway and the colors, just amazing!

Nice decoration. Just as well that she is than, as she is only held up by one wire.

Photos from Geneva now being served.

c'est très mignon, on dirait la fée clochette dans Peter Pan

It's very cute, it looks like the fairy bell in Peter Pan

I have no idea what it is, but it looks neat in the window. Christmas this year will be late, we are going to Vegas, but not until the 1st.

No idea ... but she looks very airy and thin. Perhaps it's necessary when you want to fly ;-) I'm far from flying *g*

Lovely shot! I'll have to forward it to a friend who collects fairies.

Sugar Plums look like huge purple grapes. People made candy that resembled them around the holidays. The ovals contained a lot of and were coated with sugar, and people started calling them "sugar plums."

Then good old Tschaikovsky wrote the Nutcracker and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy." (Thanks, Ming. Now I won't be able to get that music out of my head all day!)

Of course, there's also an alternative Swedish rock band called Sugar Plum Fairies. . . .

This imagine would make a lovely Christmas card, Ming, were you so inclined to print it and send it and share the beauty with others.

Merry Christmas to you.

That emaciated fairy needs to eat a whole lot more sugar plums and fatten up those skinny legs if she want to be known as "The Sugar Plum Fairy".

Ming, I was directed to you blog via ex-shammickite and will visit often because you do New York well!

Ex-shammickite...only a middle aged plump woman could be in total agreement! I roared when I read your comment but I think we just might be marching to a different drum than some LOL.............

Here's the real skinny on sugar plum fairies. When you hold a child, and their head is resting in the crook of your neck and you inhale that sweet baby smell that makes you all gooey inside...that's when you know you're got yourself a sugar plum fairy! Merry Christmas!

I don't know anything about sugar plum fairies except from the Nutcracker. Anyhow, the decoration is really nice!! It's incredible what these prefessional window decorators manage to do! I passed today again in front of some of these department store windows... amazing!

She's beautiful!

Please forgive me if my visit to you blog in the next couple of weeks will be slightly intermittent, as I am home in Manila spending some lovely time with my closest and dearest, while basking in the sun. Your visits to my blog/s, however, are much appreciated!

I'm in awe each time I pass their window. That's a wonderful close-up of the fairy.

I don't know what a sugar plum fairy is, except that I saw one in the Nutcracker a few years ago.
