January Theme Day: Best of 2007

There are so many photos to choose from but I chose this because (1) it is very New York City, (2) I love night photograhy, and (3) I just love this photo for its color and composition -- personal bias, of course.

It looks so lonely. I suppose in spite of millions of people, a large city is a lonely place. Something must make up for it though.

You are a very special person and I really like your photography. This is a very nice photograph and well-chosen for this January theme day.

Thanks for all of your visits to my blog in 2007 and I hope and pray you have excellent health and are very happy all the days of your life but especially in this new year 2008.

Happy New Year from Patty and me.

We just watched the movie "Highlander" a couple of days ago.... and I think the final scene is a fight in front of that SILVER.... sign. Can't remember what the whole word is.
All the best for health and happiness in 2008, Ming, and keep on blogging!

Glad you went with a personal fave, Ming. I like it for the "behind the scenes" feel of it all. . .even the sign is viewed from behind. NYC is such an amazingly endless subject to cover. I hope you continue to enjoy framing the sights with your artistic eye for us to see. Happy 2008 to you1

"THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!" I love seeing Silver Cup when driving out of the city. And it always reminds me of Highlander.

This picture is just amazing--tons of atmosphere, spooky and solitary and looking at it makes me feel chilly. :) The perspective is amazing, and the rails and bridges, the lighting and the city in the background really balance each other brilliantly.

I've had it sitting in an open tab in my browser all day because I keep looking back at it for evidence of "how I want my pictures to look when I grow up". :)

From what vantage point did you take this? I can definitely feel the mood of a restless city.

I look forward to visiting your blog more often this 2008. And you're welcome to mine, too! For some reason, my link was not included in the participating blogs for the 1st of January 2008 theme day. Sorry I wasn't able to visit your blog sooner. I was in transit the whole of yesterday. I am now back in Norwich after the most fantabulous time at home in Manila.

Happy New Year to you and everyone you hold dear!

I agree one hundred percent with your reasons for picking this photo, Ming, even if I've never been to NYC, so how could I know that it's very New York? I'm trusting you, that's how! And I'm so glad that you picked it so that I could see it again.

Great photo. I've got one very similar to this. Queensboro plaza offers one of the best views of the city, no doubt. I've been keeping a subway blog with photos by travis ruse. I hope to pick up my number of posts per month in the new year. Check it out here... www.nathanashker.com
