Easter Parade & Easter Bonnets 2008 - Carrot Patch

Here is an adorable "carrot patch" family at the Easter Parade & Easter Bonnets Festival. The event, despite its name, is not really a parade. It is more of a street fair where anyone and everyone, regardless of religious or political affiliations, can dress up in costumes and come to 5th Avenue for the festival.

By the way, I had a pair of bunny ears on when I took these photos. So when was the last time you dressed up in a costume? What did you dress as?

Hey Buddy! This and yesterday's pics are gorgeous! This reminds me that I've known you for exactly 1 year now. Do you have a pic of yourself with the bunny ears? HA!HA!

How fun! I just love this about NYC!!

I used to "dress up" for different things when I owned my store. I'd wear Santa hats, bunny ears, tiaras, wizard hats, etc. Now I let my dogs do it for me.

I almost always dress up as a Frenchman -:)

I love my berets! I also love this very "healthy" picture. Kudos to the clowns! LOL

Nice thing about the event is that people are prepared to have their photos taken. You don't have to worry about offending!
cute photo op, Ming!

Si it's not a general tradition... just a 5th Ave tradition?

I put a costume on a daily basis, to come to work. A suit or a skirt or a dress with a jacket. An shoes. Hate it! I'd prefer to wear sea wear!!!! Arrgh!!!

This is such fun. Love the carrot patch family. I didn't realise the Easter Parade was more of a street fair which I'm sure is much for fun and personal. And do you happen to have a photo of you in bunny ears, Mr Ming...? It's alright I don't mean you to show us. Sure you looked very smart.

The last time I dressed up was a tramp for a spoof, sort of, from Easter Parade. I played Judy Garland, doncha know!

People are so creative! I love the carrot hats. I could never come up with a fun costume like that. Great shot! It looks like everyone was having a lot of fun.

Love those carrot hats. Wonder if they're store bought or hand made.

While looking through old family photos this weekend I came across a picture of myself at 5 years old, wearing a princess costume.

Wonderful, wonderful! I was out of town for Easter and missed this year's parade. Thanks for showing me some of the fabu-tastic hats that brightened the city.
