Join Me For Dinner?

Some coworkers and I went out to dinner after work on Tuesday night at an Italian restaurant in Queens. We ordered an antipasto that included (clockwise) prosciutto or salt cured Italian ham, sun dried tomatoes, parmigiano cheese slices, buffalo mozzarella, roasted peppers and grilled mushrooms. My favorite was the parmigiano cheese and proscuitto.

So do you have a favorite Italian dish?

The salt-cured ham looks exactly like what we call, dried beef, which is also salty.

I made it this morning to look at your post and then I am off for a lung test.

I hope to be finished with all tests and back to normal by the 12th or soon thereafter.

Your photograph is really nice, as usual.

Oh my goodness Ming, that looks delicious! I'm with you - prosciutto and parmigiano are my faves too, although a few marinated olives wouldn't hurt :o)

I could eat Italian food every day - pasta, pasta and more pasta!

Ming...you know what I always say when preparing a meal...Presentation is everything! I find this quite lovely and very appetizing...What kind of BREAD??? I'm quite sure you had bread after your bread post recently...:)

Deedee, there were rosemary focaccia bread and virgin olive oil for dipping. :-)

I was full before my rigatoni bolognese arrived.

There are so many wonderful Italian dishes, even without the ubiquitous red sauce. One I love is another antipasto, caprese salad. Very simple--just alternating slices of fresh tomatoes and mozzarella, salt, pepper, a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkling of chopped fresh basil leaves. To me, this kind of food is the best--a handful of ingredients simply prepared to let each one's flavor shine.

Prosciutto and cantaloupe is a wonderful antipasto as well. The sweet and salty combo ... one of my favorites.

Hi Ming! Sorry for having taken so long to come back here…
So, for the Italian I'll take a risotto: shrimps and aspargus will do; unless you find some truffles... ;)
The Green Market looks great and I would try those baguettes...

Yikes....Elliot had the same dish last nite at Paul & Jimmy's, our local Italian restaurant.

I prefer the hot antipasto to the cold.

My favorite would be the rosemary focaccia with olive oil!! But, it all looks good. I don't think I've ever had an Italian dish that I didn't love!!

Oh, yum. I like just about anything Italian. In June, my husband and I are popping over to Tuscany, so....... Lovely photos you've posted; I've been absent a few days.

looks good. I love olives in pepper and olive oil! Also, anything with anchovies and wine to drink it down makes me happy. =)

Italian is my favorite Euro food. Right now, it would be tortellini or ravioli. It changes a lot, though.
