Subway Skylight

I was invited to an open house party at the Upper West Side yesterday afternoon. I have to admit, in the 10 years that I've lived in NYC, I can count on my hands and feet the number of times I've visited this neighborhood. No, it is not because it is not a safe area; on the contrary, it's a very desirable yuppie neighborhood. The main reason I rarely visited the Upper West Side was because it takes two train changes to get there from Queens.

This photo was taken as I came up from the underground train station at 72nd Street and Broadway. This beautiful glass ceiling is the roof of the subway station there. I was immediately drown to the beautiful patterns on the ceiling.

So have your visited some place new lately?

Ming, this is a beautiful design.
Shea Stadium was the latest "new" place I've been too. Good thing, since it is getting knocked down. I felt lucky I didn't miss seeing it.

I love this BW MIng. Very nice. Glad you got to get out and rub elbows with the yups. I left you a comment on my blog. Didn't want to talk ugly about Yankees right here on your blog if you know what I mean.

I have lived here for about 100 years. NOthing's new.
Oh wait, I forgot. Oak Hilll Cemetery on Friday. New place and I decided not to stay.

Change of two trains and you avoid it? :-)

Hope you enjoyed your party.

"deux changements de train" ;o) c'est pas beaucoup.
Magnifique ces motifs dans cette station de metro.
"two changes of train " ;o) is not much. These magnificent grounds in the subway station.

What a nice roof!

Actually, I saw a new (to me) tower in the countryside yesterday. Come see it on my blog!

It takes you longer to get here than it does for me to get from one end of the island to another. Beautiful image, very intricate and lovely light.

New art Gallery, will visit that when it opens.

If that is a glass ceiling and it curved and inlaid into the metal design then I am stunned that there are not broken pieces everywhere. It sure does make an impressive roof.

Glass is made to be broken is the old adage.

Sure ... three new breweries just yesterday :)

Remember the "acquired taste" for beer?

Scooter activity, OktoberScoot, is a simply another word for "Pub Crawl".

This glass ceiling is unique and quite surprising for the subway genre.

Wow. What a beautiful image and it forms the roof of the subway station?

Great photo, Ming.

I too have been there a few times, but the UWS isn't generally a safe area? wow, that's news to me. Still have some nice neighborhoods though. Thanks for the post.

I know that station very well.... it's where I get off for work when I feel like walking to 82nd Street.

I visited the lower east side last week.... haven't been there in years and was surprised by the regentrification of the neighborhood.
