Times Square

I took this photo last Wednesday as I was heading to the theater to see the Broadway musical, In The Heights (yesterday's photo). The weather was cool and dry, and the street was packed with tourists and locals alike. Times Square is probably one of the most exciting places to visit if you are not in a rush to go somewhere because the human traffic on the street can be quite taxing.

So where do you encounter the most human traffic in your city?

Wal Mart checkout lines. ARRGGGGHHH!

I love this classic NYC photo. It could be an advertisement. Love the lights/neon and the hustle and bustle. I can hear those horns honking now>

I've been here many times. It's always been a fascinating place with so many people and neon lights. Thanks for sharing this.

Times Square, le disney-world de NYC. Je vois qu'il y a toujours autant de monde, j'adore cet endroit.

Times Square, the Disney-world of NYC. I see that there are still so many people, I love this place

In Paris you'll be "sardined" at all hours basically in front of the big department stores in the 9th district - LaFayette, Le Printemps... Xmas time is an absolute no move ahead around that 'hood!

It must be so exciting, that seems to be the beating heart of the town.
The most human traffic I encounter is in Via Mazzini and Via Cappello on saturday and sunday afternoon: a human wall!

Unfortunately, in our southern USA city, we encounter the most human traffic at the entrance to Walmart. But, I'm convinced one could sit there and learn many things about the human condition and behavoirs. Would make for an interesting grad project.

Alas, it is what it is.

Times Square is really something different! We have a lot of crowds around also in Paris, but I don't think we have anything really comparable!

Very nice night shot, Ming.

I have always avoided 42st except forn the time when I was a kid and could go downtown and watch double features for two bucks. It was seedier then, but at least it had character

Did you enjoy the show?

i know this is times square, but somehow it's starting to look like any large city with a theater district. Maybe I am wrong?

Both times I have visited New York I have of course been to Times Square. It really comes in to it's life at night, with all the crowds and bright lights. I think that it looses a bit of it's magic in day light, like Las Vegas.

I live in a town of less than 20,000 in the Netherlands, so no problem with crowds.

Could be Lecicester Sq. London. Only when we have tourists do we have ths amount of human traffic. It's a great nightshot.

Definitely Oxford Street. The closer it gets to Xmas the more of a nightmare it becomes. Essential dress is shoulder pad protection.

I can hear the noise of the traffic and the chatter of the crowd. I love it. In my city, it would be downtown when there is a something going on in both the baseball field and the arena and at Symphony Hall and the theatre. Then it gets crowded.

Sometimes I'm convinced it's navigating through the sea of baby carriages at any diner on the Upper West Side!

Times SQ is the most annoying place in NYC. I have to pass through it everyday to go to work and the tourists drive me nuts.

I hate and love Times Square. Hate all those tourists when I am in a rush. Love to see them from above, from the office window.

I was there @ "Heights" box office just on Saturday evening!!! (thought it too pricey to see the show at the last minute) - but we stayed at Times Square & loved/loved/loved every minute of our 4 days in NYC (well, Manhattan)! - I've got a similar photo from last Friday night for Tuesday.
