Tugboat on the East River

This little tugboat toots along the East River with the big boys, like the Staten Island ferry, tourist cruise ship and other gigantic carriers. In the background, you can also see masted boats and water taxi.

So do you toot your own horn?

I want to remember the name of the tugboat story I loved as a child. Darn! What a cute little tug, Ming.
Toot my own horn? When I have something to toot, I'll let you know!

Great photo, Ming. About my horn, I toot it silently to myself, encouraging myself to do remain positive, to try to always do the right thing.

I like these sorts of scenes. Is this near South Street Seaport?

I'll toot my own horn if I guessed correctly. Otherwise no.

Something endearing about a tugboat. So ugly they're cute? My wife's Mini falls in that category ... looks like a baby gorilla from the front.

Virginia, was the story about 'Lil' Toot? I seem to remember a story with that name from my childhood ... early in the last century, though, so memory may well have faded -:)

Being on the other side of the world, one finishes to think NY only as the skyscrapers city. But it's also a sea city! More sea front photos Ming, please!!!!!!!!!

I love how that tugboat is painted-- it's very unique. I actually took some really interesting photos of military boats when I went to the Mexican Rivierra. lol And a tourist "pirate ship". That was too funny.

I toot my horn only in in the privacy of my own home

I've always loved tugboats — I think they're adorable and it's fascinating how they lead much, much bigger boats. Hmmm… I think I've just discovered the real reason why I like them.

No I just let off an awful lot of steam. Cute tugboat. Reminds me of the little train that could.

...and I agree with Valeria. Great naval shot. I imagine there was a bit of zoom involved here. Looks kind of compressed. Like it.

Oh, I'm going to have to draw that beauty. I'll send you and email when I post it on my daily draw blog. So far I've been doing mostly Scottish tugs, but this one's a stunner! Nice shot.

Lovely shot, Ming!
I too love the small but mighty little tugs. Took some shots of them recently—none as good as this one though.
