Oasis of Calm

I was walking down 50th Street from 5th Avenue towards Madison when I came across this interesting pocket of peace and serenity. It is one of a dozen or so public spaces sprinkled across midtown to give office workers in the area a place sit and enjoy the outdoors.

So where is your oasis of calm?

But why are there no busy stressed New Yorkers taking advantage of this lovely calm space?

And I think my oasis of calm is my back yard.... grass, trees, flowers, birds, and those darned tree-rats!

I've been to that very spot!

My oasis of calm is my bedroom - no stressful thoughts allowed in there!

don't you just love to find hidden gems like this in the city? :)

That's beautiful. What did you do, photograph it at night with lights? There's nobody around...

Lovely, Ming! I love these little pocket parks, don't you? My oasis of calm is anywhere in Venice after midnight.

Lovely, Ming. I've stopped in this waterfall garden a couple of times in the past, and it does indeed provide a friendly breath of fresh air!

I love this spot! Last time I was in there, which was about 3 years ago, it was kind of loud from the water fall and there were only a couple of people in there. I wonder why... I'd think it would be crowded!

This is so inviting. New York has become such a special place. I'm sure it always was, but it's so inviting now. The wide waterfall is certainly striking! Astoria (Oregon) has a lot of places of serenity, but for me there is always the river, which is just outside my door.
